Shane Smith gets Hat Trick in win over Syracuse

Syracuse Orange came to Warrendale looking to avenge their previous loss to the ROCK, but came up short as the Pride hockey team outscored them again. Justin Umbs, assisted by Wes Waldschmidt and Matt Lancaster scored on a power play in the first period. Zach Cunningham, assisted by Josh Herbert and Mavrik Goepfert added another tally in the second. Shane Smith, assisted by Umbs and Waldschmidt put the third mark on the scoreboard for the ROCK with another power play goal at seven and a half minutes left in the second frame. Syracuse seemed like they were trying to get back in the game in the third period after they scored one, but the ROCK answered with two. Smith got his second goal of the game, assisted by Bryan Szostak and Lancaster. The ROCK’s power play line proved itself again as Lancaster scored for the ROCK, assisted by Waldschmidt and Smith. Syracuse rallied for 3 goals to bring the game to 5 - 4 but Smith took the wind out of them as he got his Hat-Trick goal, assisted by Umbs and Lancaster during a 4 on 4 session. Congrats to Smith for his 4 point game, 3 goals and an assist. Kudos to Lancaster also, for his 3 assists and a goal as the ROCK wins 6 -4.
